My Story

After college, I went to medical school. When it came time to choose a specialty, I chose psychiatry, because I wanted to help people become happier, emotionally stronger, and more successful in life. Although my interest in helping others remained constant, I quickly discovered that being a practicing physician was not for me. So, after my training, I stepped off this path. During the next few years, I raised my children and began to create my life, in a way that made me feel purposeful.

I built a career as a medical writer. At the same time, I created change in my city and at my children’s schools by crafting and implementing public school policy procedures at a city-wide level to keep children with food allergies safe and included.

Over time, my writing jobs became more of a “have to do” than “want to do.” I knew I needed to find a career that would allow me to help people become “unstuck” — to help them create meaningful professional and personal lives. When I discovered coaching, I knew this was what I wanted to do. I became trained and certified as a coach through Coaches Training Institute in 2014. Most recently, I became certified in Neuroscience coaching through BeAbove Leadership in 2017.

As a coach, I combine neuroscience and intuition, helping you access and use the wisdom in both your left and right brain hemispheres.

What’s Important to Me

Here are my core values that I bring to every coaching relationship:

  • Authenticity: Superficiality drives me crazy. Ask my friends: I am honest and expect others to be honest, too. I bring honesty to my coaching; I’ll tell you what I notice and what I hear in our sessions. If I hear that you sound overwhelmed or excited, I’ll tell you!
  • Continual learning: I believe that we need to keep learning about ourselves through inquiry and trying new things. Specifically, this means that I bring neuroscience concepts and tools to you, so that you can change your thought patterns and behaviors.
  • Connecting and collaborating: When I coach, my attention is 100% on you. I am not driving, looking at a computer screen or checking emails. I am listening to your words, and to the energy behind the words. I love networking and collaborating with others, and sharing ideas.
  • Holding the “big picture” and “small steps” at the same time: When we coach, I will hold your “big picture” agenda: who you are, what your strengths are, and what makes you feel purposeful. I also tap in to my Type A qualities to get tactical and help you identify the “small steps” you need to take from one session to the next.
  • Being responsive: I believe in being responsive and doing the things I say I’ll do. I am on “retainer” by email the entire time we work together. If you email me with a success or frustration, I’ll email you back within the day. If I say I’ll send you a link, I’ll send it to you. You can count on me to keep my word.
